Speeding by their 50th Anniversary, Scorpions returned back to the Allstate Arena Thursday for an evening of their rock hits yolked with some offerings from their latest album, Rock Believer.
With a lineup that is clearly still firing on all cylinders, including singer Klaus Meine, rhythm guitarist Rudolf Schenker, lead guitarist Matthias Jabs, bassist Pawel Maciwoda and drummer Mikkey Dee (of Motörhead fame), the band ripped through songs to loud cheers from a packed Allstate Arena who have feverishly followed them throughout the decades.
Including “Scorps” anthems like “No One Like You” and ballads “Wind Of Change,” the band fine turned their setlist where the slower songs brought the same energy as their most dynamic moments. With a massive stage show as well as a long runway dividing the footprint of the former Rosemont Horizon, fans never felt far from the band, giving that same energy from the stage right back to the band. If this is their final show in Chicago, then the band can say they left with a bang, though seeing the energy they brought to Rosemont, it’s hard to believe they’re done.
