Expect to see Big Thief’s fifth album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You on a great many year-end, best of 2022 lists. The Brooklyn quartet has seen its popularity grow exponentially since its 2015 inception. The band has hit the road in support of its latest release and landed in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood for a very sold-out performance at the Riviera Theatre. The setlist drew heavily from DNWMIBIY, and the band’s hushed, stripped-down approach served the material beautifully. Vocalist Adrianne Lenker may sell her songs with a whisper, but that doesn’t mean there’s a syllable that goes left unchewed. The packed, rapt house seemed more than willing to hang on to every last one.
