Stage Buzz: Deacon Blues at Arcada Theatre – Saturday, November 27 • St. Charles
After a year off due to COVID-19, Deacon Blues is bringing back their traditional Thanksgiving weekend show at Arcada Theatre this Saturday, November 27. Having just celebrated their 9th Anniversary with a show at FitzGerald’s in Berwyn, the band is prepared to bring back what the fans want: an All-Star Tribute to Steely Dan.
The outfit is led by their tireless co-founder/guitarist/vocalist Steven Kikoen, who has recruited some heavy hitters for this year’s version of the band, including Grammy-award-winning drummer Paul Wertico, acclaimed Chicago bassist Richard Patterson, and new vibraphonist/pianist Thaddeus Tukes. Along with guest backing vocalist Cecy Santana “on loan” from Kikoen’s other band (The Lotus Kings), this show promises to be one “the Dan” would be proud of.
Kikoen has modeled The Deacons live repertoire from Steely Dan’s 1991 reunion prototype, “The New York Rock & Soul Revue,” as well as the painstaking musicianship of their acclaimed studio albums.
With two sets and 120 minutes of hits (“Reelin’ in The Years,” “Hey Nineteen,” “Peg”), plus deep cuts (“Don’t Take Me Alive,” “Aja”). We expect to hear a finale on Saturday with a member of Deacon Blues mentioning, “it’s good to be back.”
Tickets are available with a 25% Discount using code “Deacon 25” at checkout.
