After their unplanned pandemic 2020 sabbatical, Megadeth and Lamb of God arrived healthy and intact in Tinley Park last night. Both bands were seemingly overjoyed; they were finally getting to tour even at the halfway point of their grueling 27-date North American jaunt.
If you can find a band more at the top of their live performance game than Lamb of God, we can’t think of one. Randy Blythe and crew destroyed it from the opening notes of “Momento Mori” through their 12-song set in the shadow of Interstate 80.
Despite the parting of longtime bassist Dave Ellison, Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine and crew delivered a reliably solid set. But on this September evening, the night belonged to Lamb of God. Trivium and Hatebreed opened the ceremonies. Curt Baran captured the action.
