Gallery: Phil and Bob at Chicago Theatre

| March 14, 2018

It may take a trip to the dry cleaners to get the “collie man” redolance removed from the curtains at the historic Chicago Theater and the patron’s jackets. On the second of two sold-out shows, former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh invited some of their friends over for an evening of stripped down, living room-feel revelry. The vibe certainly made the Deadheads feel right at home.

Even approaching the theater from outside, the scent of marijuana was so heavy, you’d swear you were walking past a dispensary. The mood of peaceful bacchanalia-with skunk bud replacing wine (although the drink flowed as well)-continued inside as the duo treated fans to four lengthy sets of music over the course of two evenings of performances. Curt Baran dispatched these photos, presumably before the contact high set in. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since. We can only assume he had a great show.
