Photo Gallery: John McLaughlin & Jimmy Herring at The Vic Theater

| November 26, 2017

Ed Spinelli captured two guitar giants at The Vic last week, adding these show notes:

“Chicago was the only city on this tour lucky enough to get two shows. Both easy sellouts to what appeared to be a male dominated audience, and guessing they were all guitar players getting their last lessons from the master (McLaughlin) who will be putting away his passport as he’s announced he’s retiring from the road.

Whoever put John McLaughlin and Jimmy Herring together on this tour should be rewarded because they really brought something pretty special to anyone that witnessed it. It’s somewhat rare for the Vic theater to have assigned seats and even more rare that you could hear a pin drop until the end of each song.

There was roughly three hours of music that included the opening set from Jimmy Herring and The Invisible Whip that clocked in around a hour. After a ten minute set change, John McLaughlin and The 4th Dimension hit the stage for their hour long set then to be joined by Jimmy Herring and The Invisible Whip for the final set. If you love these guitar players this was an incredibly special night.”
