Photo Gallery and Recap – Kansas at Copernicus Center
Kansas
Copernicus Center, Chicago
Friday, October 4, 2016
There were so many special occasions swirling through the air when Ron Onesti (and the folks from the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles) brought Kansas to the grandly restored Copernicus Center that it would’ve been very easy to lose count. For starters, it happened to be the very same day of the Chicago Cubs’ World Series rally, alongside the 40th anniversary of the band’s Leftoverture landmark and also a chance to hear tunes from the brand new album The Prelude Implicit (which ended a sixteen year studio hiatus).
It even marked a homecoming of sorts for current singer Ronnie Platt (ARRA, Shooting Star and many others), who along with original guitarist Rich Williams, fellow co-founding drummer Phil EhartRich Williams, plus bassist Billy Greer, violin player David Ragsdale, keyboardist David Manion and rhythm guitarist Zak Rizvi, nailed well over two hours of progressive and classic rock-minded material from their fertile catalogue.
