Stage Buzz: Photo Gallery: Mike + The Mechanics
For the first time since 1989, Mike Rutherford and his reconstituted line-up of Mike + The Mechanics returned to America, including two nights at the Park West (pictured on Friday, March 20). Besides his own signature guitar sounds, co-vocalists Tim Howar and Andrew Roachford were pure dynamite on hits such as “Silent Running,” “The Living Years” and “All I Need Is A Miracle,” cuts from its latest record The Road, alongside a few Genesis classics. Speaking of that band, fellow axe-slinger Daryl Stuermer opened with prog-tipped solo selections and instrumental interpretations, like Peter Gabriel’s “Shock The Monkey” from a forthcoming covers collection.
