Stage Buzz – Live Shots: Riot Fest Chicago – Day One
Riot Fest celebrated its 10th Anniversary by taking over a larger portion of Chicago’s Humboldt Park for three days of music and mayhem. Day 1 headliners Jane’s Addiction and The Offspring both played their seminal albums (Nothing’s Shocking and Smash, respectively) in their entirety. IE photographer Curt Baran battled the elements (cold, rain, and ankle deep, footwear-swallowing mud) and stayed in the trenches to get shots of Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, Title Fight, Gwar, Plague Vendor, Circa Survive, Stiff Little Fingers and Gogol Bordello. Riot Fest also managed to pull of a booking coup, scoring Russian punk rockers Pussy Riot, who took part in a discussion panel mediated by former Black Flag front man Henry Rollins and also included members of Bad Religion and Rise Against.
Soak up the photos and revel in the madness of Riot Fest Chicago 2014 – Day One.
