Stage Buzz: Xavier Rudd
Arguably our foremost musical freak of nature, Aussie wonder Xavier Rudd first gained popularity on the summer festival circuit, where he captivated sun-soaked festy hearts with his signature blend of Aboriginal jam rock. He’s lost little steam since. Rudd stops by Lincoln Hall tonight to do what he does best: drop concert-going jaws. Depending on which album Rudd’s promoting – in this case, 2012’s Spirit Bird – his Frankenstein monster of lap guitars, hand drums, stomp boxes, and didgeridoos might look more like a spacecraft than a rack of musical instruments. Aside from listing the array of noisemakers Rudd might don this week – dobros, djembes, tongue drums (yes, a real thing) – there’s not much we can say to incentivize your stopping by. The guy’s got three didgeridoos (surely there’s an off-color joke in there somewhere). If that doesn’t pique your interest, we’re not sure what will. (Thursday@Lincoln Hall)
