Chicagoland Studio Happenings
South Side drummer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Anthony (Sgt. Roxx, Raddaka, Pamela Moore) worked on his solo project called Gagorder13 at BAREFOOT STUDIO in Beecher with David Knuth. Gabriel finished drum tracks in March and plans to track all guitars, bass, and vocals through the spring and summer for a fall/winter release.
At BOTA STUDIO in Lake In The Hills, Reviled worked on tracks for a CD due out early spring . . . BOTA Studio is offering bands no clock time for drum setup and drum tones. Plus, any bands who book time with BOTA and refer the studio to another band will receive free mastering of their final mix.
At FARVIEW RECORDING in St. Charles, “Leave It Alone,” a song that features Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bittner, F5 (and ex-Megadeth) bassist David Ellefson, Daitribe guitarist Tristan Grigsby, and recently announced Yngwie Malmsteen frontman Tim “Ripper” Owens was recorded and mixed by Jason Walsh. The song was written for an upcoming memorial disc to “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, and features solos by special guests Nick Bowcott (ex-Grim Reaper) and fan Brian Cashmore. All proceeds from the song will go to Little Kids Rock; a preview can be heard at Myspace.com/dimetrack.
At Pragma Studios in Chicago, Midway & Wake finished recording and mixing five songs with Adam Newman . . . Dan Wean recorded overdubs for the new Shred Eagle album . . . Aidas Narbutaitis mixed Vitallight‘s new EP . . . Fair Weather Enemy tracked with Newman . . . Endity recorded new material with Narbutaitis.
At SOUNDSCAPE STUDIOS in Chicago, Double-O from Kidz In Da Hall (Duck-Down) mixed their new album, The In Crowd, with Michael Kolar in the Red Room. Kolar recorded most of the album (the rest at BASELINE STUDIOS in New York) and will handle mixing and mastering.
At UPTOWN RECORDING in Chicago, Dan Stock has been busy with a number of projects. He did sound design and mixed an independent documentary film, Shalom House, for director Ben Steger . . . He also scored and sound designed a promotional spot for Prudential Realty . . . Rob Ruccia finished a full Arabic orchestral album for Xauen Music. The musicians on the record are members of the Chicago Classical Oriental Ensemble . . . Stock edited a live, in-house performance for Valdes Productions that was filmed at Uptown. It will be used for their new EPK. The music was recorded live and mixed by Ruccia . . . Stock continued tracking and mixing the debut EP for United Secrets Of America and finished mixing a new record for Joy Missile . . . Ruccia continued work on University Of Chicago’s Middle Eastern Orchestra’s most recent recording . . . Ruccia also worked on the final mix tweaks of Funkadesi‘s new record . . . Progressive rockers FHOD recorded and mixed an album with Ruccia, as did local metal act Somatic.
