At ENERGY COMMAND STUDIOS in Park Ridge, A Better Place To Be finished their five-song, self-titled CD. Amery (Amo) Schmeisser did ProTools editing and mixed two tracks. Schmeisser and Dave Banks engineered the sessions, and Banks produced the CD . . . Rapper Young Eighty (Darius McGee) recorded and released his latest CD, Madison Square. Art Garceau engineered and mixed most the tracks. The CD was produced by Banks and McGee . . . Singer-songwriter Kim Wilkens layed down a piano-and-vocal demo track called “Sleepy Town” . . . Nozzle Nibbler started work on their first demo with sessions engineered and produced by Schmeisser . . . Simmering is back in the studio.

At GALLERY OF CARPET RECORDING STUDIO in Villa Park, Sars Flannery completed their debut LP, Sale Of The Century, with producer/engineer Brian Zieske . . . Zieske will be attending Abbey Road Studios this November for mastering with Steve Rooke (Wilco, Beatles, David Bowie) . . . Bailiff recorded their debut EP live and mixed off of analog tape . . . Chicago vets Leave worked on their third full length . . . Santa completed work on their upcoming EP, to be released this winter.

At I.V. LAB STUDIOS in Chicago, The Villains Of Verona recorded with producer Jon Alvin . . . Scott Jackson of Cealed Kasket continued work on his first solo record with engineer Sarcicus . . . Justin Griffin (Stellar Road) recorded and mixed with Manny Sanchez . . . Blink also recorded and mixed with Sanchez . . . Janus began work on a new record.

At JEFF FRANKEL RECORDING in Chicago, Grant and Ben of The Electric Shoes mastered their forthcoming CD with enginer Ed Tinley . . . Karlye Lapetina worked on tracks for her new CD with Tinley and Dave Cottini.

At LINDER AVENUE RECORDING in Roselle, singer Allan W. Pallante laid down vocal tracks with owner/engineer Dom Palmisano . . . Singer-songwriter Michael Borkowski wrote and tracked material; Palmisano engineered and produced those tracks.

At SOUNDSCAPE STUDIOS in Chicago, owner Michael Kolar recorded a fundraising album for the charity The Happiness Club, which teaches kids positive values through the music-making process, culminating in a yearly concert at Park West. Rhymefest, Naledge, and The Rich worked on the album. “It is a rare opportunity to leave the studio and feel like you have made the world a better place,” Naledge said . . . New Molemen Inc. artist Astonish recorded and mixed his debut EP with Kolar in the Red Room. It features production by Panik, Memo, and PNS.

The Sleepers are recording the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2005 debut, Push It Nationwide, at Southside Recording in Pilsen. Vince Cassamatta is the engineer/producer. Their sophomore record will be released in early 2008 on Pravda Records.

At SONIC PALACE in Oak Park, The Tall Hush put finishing touches on Back From Zero, out in November . . . Royal finished three songs . . . Himalaya And Dutch Dinero started recording a new CD for Chicago hip-hop label Infinite Hustle . . . Studio owner Matt Mercado’s band, Supermercado, are deep into recording their swan song, tentatively titled Chupacabra . . . Widdle Monsters recorded a six-song EP.

Twin Wrecks The Memory began recording their new LP with John Sullivan at Left of south studio in Joliet. This will be TWTM’s follow-up to 2005’s Royal Drug Lodge: Trouble For The Rest Of Us and the group’s first with new drummer Mike Marcinkowski (ex-Jesus And The Devil).
