Fayrewether return
Fayrewether
Chicago City Limits, Schaumburg
Friday, May 4, 2007
Progressive rocker Paul Fayrewether and his band conquered Chicagoland as a top drawing club act in the dark age of the mid-’80s, back when the local rock scene was going through a decidedly lean period of major label record deals and commercial success.
Though the house music and the post punk scenes were gaining steam underground, rock fans had few local choices after Styx and REO Speedwagon had taken sabbaticals from their late-’70s/early-’80s successes. With clubs like Haymakers and Park West as their homebase, Fayrewether played Chicagoland so often they seemed like a hometown act, yet the band was a deeply schooled, theatrical prog rock bunch clearly influenced by Genesis — and based, of all places out of Cleveland. With 33 years under his belt, Fayrewether promises to bring back a night of stage pyrotechnics and old favorites (“Don’t Count Me Out,” “The Man In The Jar”) plus an entire set of Genesis from its 1976 long-player, Trick Of The Tail.
Fayreweather also perform Saturday, May 5th at 115 Bourbon St. in Merrionette Park.

Immensely disappointed I did not go must have seen them (him) at least a dozen times- at least.
I did see them at Haymakers once but most of the time was at P.J.Flaherty’s in Evergreen Park and once at Chances ‘R’ in Palatine. Any old bandmates with Paul? Fayrewether shows are awe-inspiring, everyone should experience the talent present here. I won’t miss you again, please come back. I’ve got a Fayrewether picture disc(33 LP) – anyone else got that?
