If the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie is as funny as its accompanying soundtrack, then the folks at Adult Swim have themselves a hit.

“Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” for those unfamiliar, is a cartoon about a a living, breathing, talking meatball, order of fries, and shake that live together in New Jersey. It’s completely absurd but totally motherfucking (and we don’t use that word often) hilarious, much like this soundtrack. Nearly all of the songs on this soundtrack were written by show creators Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, but they recruited acts like Mastodon, Andrew W.K., Schoolly D, and Early Man to perform them. Hilariousness ensues. Mastodon’s “Cut You Up With A Linoleum Knife” is an explicit warning to the flick’s potential bootleggers; Schoolly D reworks the show’s theme song on “ATHF Theme (Remix)”; and Andrew W.K., author of songs with titles such as “Party ‘Til You Puke” and “Party Hard,” outdoes even himself with “Party Party Party,” featuring the lyric “I know a guy named Marty/Marty love to party/party party party/party make me farty/I gotta take antacid/so I can keep on partying.”

The highlight of the disc, though, has to be 9lb Hammer’s “Carl’s Theme” and the introduction by Carl (the Aqua Teen’s sweatpants-and-flip-flops-and-wife-beater wearing, classic rock enthusiast neighbor) himself who calls the track “the most rockingest song in the whole friggin’ universe.” He is obviously contradicting himself, though, because the song, his theme song, says the same thing about Boston’s “More Than A Feeling.”

Either way, the song, like this soundtrack, is definitely friggin’ awesome.
