Grammy me? Grammy U!
BEHIND THE MUSIC
The Chicago Chapter Of The Recording Academy is offering college students a peek at what goes on “behind the scenes” in the music industry, but nobody is promising you’ll like what you see.
Are you a college student looking for some version of a career in the music industry? If so, The Recording Academy is looking for you. The Academy (an organization of musicians, producers, engineers, and recording professionals) has launched the Grammy University Network (Grammy U if you’re nasty), which the Academy says will help prepare aspiring music-industry students for careers thanks to networking and educational programs.
Next week The Chicago Chapter will host “Inside The Minds Of Music: A Panel Discussion About Artist Management And A&R,” featuring the know-how of Uppercut Management’s Steve Hutton, Feisty Management’s Douglas Lefrak, and Aware Records/A-Squared Management’s Steve Smith. The presentation takes place February 1st at The Chicago Chapter (224 S. Michigan Ave., suite 250) but before you show up all eager-beaver like with your notepad and pen, know you must be a member of Grammy U. That will run you $25 per year and is open to full-time college students who major in music-related majors like art, business, communications, journalism, marketing, music performing, and more.
