Hip-Hoppers Survive Bus Accident

| December 6, 2006

IE was originally slated to bring readers a preview of Saturday’s Mr. Lif/The Coup show at The Abbey until shocking news broke early Tuesday morning from the groups’ respective labels (Definitive Jux and Epitaph). While these revolutionary hip-hop acts and friends were being driven this weekend through Southern California en route to Scottsdale, Arizona, their tour bus flipped over and caught fire. Before the bus became engulfed in flames, all of its occupants managed to escape albeit not unharmed.

“The most serious injuries were sustained by DJ Big Wiz (Def Jux), Zarah (friend and merch assistant to Mr. Lif), and SILK-E (The Coup),” says Definitive Jux founder/owner EL-P. “They are all being looked after now and beginning the process of recovery. Everyone else (Mr. Lif, Metro, The Coup) is battered but relatively unscathed.”

With passengers still recovering and their bus and equipment destroyed, all shows this week have been officially canceled; though, shows scheduled from December 10th and on remain up in the air. Definitive Jux and Epitaph will provide updates as they are made available.
