Recording 101

| October 18, 2006

Whether you’re just starting in the recording business or have been at it for awhile, we’re guessing advice from a couple Grammy Award winners wouldn’t hurt ya.

The Chicago Chapter Of The Recording Academy, along with the Producer & Engineers Wing, present Truth, Lies, & Digital Audio: Getting The Best Out Of Your Daw on October 24th. If you didn’t know, Daw stands for “digital audio workstation” (daw, duh!) and present to help you with that will be Grammy Award winning producer Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, U2, Elton John), Grammy winning mixer/engineer Tony Maserati (Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige), Avastor president Steve Smith, and producer Trevor Sadler (Crash Test Dummies, Nine Inch Nails, Live) among others. Those experts and others will discuss many of the topics facing recording studio’s today, including digital file formatting, hard drive memory loss, and ways to maximize productivity while minimizing cost.

The event takes place at John Buck Lecture Hall (224 S. Michigan Ave.) and is open to the public. However, if you aren’t a member of the Recording Academy Members admission will cost you $30. To RSVP, call (312) 786-1121 or email RSVP_Chicago@grammy.com.
