Late Show Announcements
After we went to deadline for our October issue, a couple of surprise shows were announced, including Matmos and Ian MacKaye’s The Evens.
Matmos will perform Thursday, October 5th at the Claudia Cassidy Theater in the Chicago Cultural Center on Washington. Part of the New Music/New Millennium series, Matmos will be joined onstage by So Percussion and “make music out of the sounds of objects, animals, people, and actions.”
MacKaye’s post-Fugazi outfit, The Evens, comprises himself and Amy Farina and pushes forth atmospheric folk. Both sing, while MacKaye plugs his baritone guitar and Farina plays drums. They’ll play two shows, one each October 12th and 13th at Pulaski Park Fieldhouse Auditorium (1419 W. Blackhawk). The show is $5 and all-ages, in true MacKaye fashion.
