Earl Greyhound
Soft Targets
(Some)
Interracial/co-ed New Yawk power trio conjure Zeppelin fire and T. Rex swagger on their debut full-length.
Unabashedly rock ‘n’ roll and looking as if they just walked out of a Lenny Kravitz video, Earl Greyhound sustain deep-grooved, blues rock pyrotechnics on Soft Targets like Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire” was the only song they ever heard. Aside from the tepid, modern garage rock in the form of “It’s Over” and “Like A Doggy” eating half the tracks, sweaty long hair and bellbottoms rule the day on “Monkey,” “S.O.S.,” and “Fashion.” Oasis would probably wet their pants to have “Good” — today’s Oasis, not Definitely Maybe — but the Zep and Cream boys aren’t shaking quite yet.
