(Adrenaline)
If it’s anonymity BrotherManDude are going for with the name, by gum, they’ve done it.
“How deep is your soul?” BrotherManDude ask on their self-titled album’s opener, “Movin On,” and the question remains unanswered throughout. But if they were seriously concerned, BMD would gloss less over their record collections than they do on this self-titled effort. The Australians cover a lot of territory but never seem to put forth an identity, even hogging Living Colour territory on “Painkiller” or stomping on Dave Matthews’ grass for “Automatic.” “Mannequin” is as if Doves forgot about their Peter Gabriel fetish and just went ambient before diving blindly into the chorus, while closer “Souls” forces its way past security and into the Floyd vaults.
