The Album Leaf
Into The Blue Again
(Sub Pop)

Having taken time off to tour and experiment with artist friends, James LaValle returns under his Album Leaf nom de plume for a textured, varied electronic album.

Appearing: October 6th at the Vic Theatre in Chicago.

While the tones of “The Light” and “Into The Sea” seem to suggest an immediate Sigur Rós obsession, LaValle switches gears immediately for the TV On The Radio/Aloha-gleaned “Always For You,” and “Writings On The Wall” could be Black Heart Procession meets Matt Pond PA. “See In You” basks in the warmth of electric piano while “Wherever I Go” spoons its way into submission. Some of the drier instrumental passages hint at blissful indulgence, but otherwise being worn out has served LaValle and Album Leaf just fine.
