New York’s resident industrial popsters Mindless Self Indulgence don’t waste a whole bunch of time on record, perhaps driving their video-game loving fans to better times and higher scores.

The cover art for You’ll Rebel To Anything is a pile of discarded joysticks in the shape of a cross, a slick ode to their Atari chic. The album itself is a pastiche of Thrill Kill Kult cybersexuality, laser punk, and good ol’ fashioned anthemic dance pop (“Straight To Video”). Little Jimmy Urine, Steve Righ?, Kitty, and Lyn Z are Bis for the cutter crowd, early MTV fanatics who have confused real life with Tron. That they cover Rush’s “Tom Sawyer” — that anyone would cover “Tom Sawyer” — only adds to their cred.

Kill Hannah open.
