IN MUSIC WE TRUST

The life of local musician Anthony Salazar, who died in May 2005, will be remembered and celebrated Sunday, June 25th with a special benefit show presented by chicagoCO-Lab, an online forum developed as a means for Chicagoland musicians to network.

Salazar was 39-years old when he died of complications with arterial-venous malformation (an abnormal collection of blood vessels that doesn’t allow blood to flow to the tissues) in his brain. According to a press release, Salazar’s involvement with a number of musical projects allowed him the opportunity to play numerous current and former Chicagoland venues, including Bird’s Nest, SchizoClub, Bar Vertigo, and Big Horse. His AVM was discovered in 2004 after he experienced a seizure while on his way home from a show; that same year his first son, Alexei was born. All the money raised (suggested donation is $10) from the Darkroom (2210 W. Chicago) show will go directly to a trust fund for Alexei.

Recent Photo, Rich Experience, The Dynamos, Andy Z, Spinner, Harmoniass, Stoneflys, Nice Peter, and Moses Gun are among the bands scheduled to play, and music from the posthumously completed Original Twin (which Salazar started while recovering from his initial seizure) will be debuted.

    Trevor,

Thank you so much for your help in publishing the Salazar Benefit info. I’m the moderator of chicagoCO-LAB along with Guy Corl and we appreciate this so much. Hopefully some new ears will hear Anthony’s music and we can raise some money for his family. You are awesome.

    Thank you,
