Want to know the ins and outs of the urban entertainment industry? If so the Columbia College Urban Music Association will host the two-day Urban Entertainment Seminar this week to inform the uninformed and give aspiring superstars the chance to be seen and heard.
The event kicks off Thursday, May 4th, with the Producers Up Close & Personal seminar at the Crocodile Lounge (211 W. Van Buren), which will serve as both a networking session and a battle of the beats competition. A “VIP roster of music professional” will judge 16 of the city’s best beatmakers and crown one the “Hottest Of The Midwest.”
Friday’s lineup includes the Entertainment Professionals’ Panel with industry lawyers, producers, marketing professionals, and label owners, the Intimate Insider’s Conversation with local artists, a networking session, and the Digital Music Industry Panel Discussion focusing on important news and music trends.
Among the industry figures scheduled to appear at the various seminars are Kanye West manager John Monopoly, Steve Hurley (president of the Chicago Grammy Chapter),WGCI DJ Lil’ John, and I AM Music’s Jun Mhoon.
