The Night And I Are Still So Young
(Endearing/Cooking Vinyl)
Somehow it never seemed possible Brian Wilson’s creations could use a couple more tracks in the mix. The Heavy Blinkers beg to differ.

Although they round the edges completely off of “Try Telling That To My Baby” and “Veranda Celestre” — sounding conspicuously like a ’70s sitcom theme — and overload the Cocteaus-on-codeine clone “Gentle Strength,” Nova Scotia’s Heavy Blinkers mind their ambition on *The Night And I Are Still So Young*. It’s difficult to think of anything but Beach Boys with the way the vocals are layered, yet when it’s time to move a song the zombie drug cloud lifts and drags your toes on the tips of the grass blades.
