You Might Be A Winner!
Last year Erica Gustafson had the honor of being the first Loop Rock Girl, and earned a fat $50,000 salary to attend station events, concerts, and appear in marketing campaigns. Now 97.9 (WLUP-FM) The Loop is looking for its 2006 Loop Rock Girl. The station promotion begins with four public casting calls (one of which has passed) every Saturday at various malls.
Loop representatives will select 64 semi-finalists from these casting calls to compete in the second round of the competition: on-air and Internet voting throughout the month of April. The contest will then head to Joe’s (940 W. Weed) on April 29th, where a panel of judges will determine who among the remaining “Sweet 16” deserves to be 2006 Loop Rock Girl.
If you’re interested in participating head to one of these two locations between noon and 4 p.m. on the specified dates for an open casting call:
Westfield Chicago Ridge Mall on Saturday, March 11th
Westfield Fix Valley Mall on Saturday, March 18th
The final casting call will be on Saturday, March 25th at an undetermined location; for more details visit www.wlup.com.
And if being a hot chick isn’t really your thing, entries for the 11th Annual USA Songwriting Competition are now being accepted through May 31st. The contest promises more than $50,000 in cash and music gear from Peavey, and in addition winning songs will receive airplay on a nationally syndicated satellite radio program. According to the press release, many past competition winners have received recording and publishing contracts.
