Forever Young
Young People
All At Once
(Too Pure)
Young People’s Too Pure debut is not only an assault on the disposable disco punk culture growing stale in New York, but also one on patience.
There might be an idea behind All At Once, but that’s not to be interpreted as being an album full of them. Katie Eastburn and Jeff Rosenberg offer a rambling, go-nowhere do-nothing set that sounds as if it was recorded during a “Magic Eye” poster gallery opening. Any desolation sought comes self-imposed, stillness born of lethargy. Album title aside, the songs were fairly aptly named (“Your Grave,” “The Clock”), and the songs that aren’t, “Slow Moving Storm” in particular, underline the frustrations herein.
