They Shoot Horses Don’t They
Boo Hoo Hoo Boo
(Kill Rock Stars)
We all get weird; it’s the duration of those episodes that defines being mad as hatters.
Maybe when you’re alone you talk loudly and in a cartoonish way announce things like “I’m going to the bathroom with no socks on!” Maybe you turn the TV down and do your own play-by-play for sporting events. Perhaps you dance naked in front of the mirror in a manner you know isn’t sexy. (Is it just me?) You’re the kind of person in They Shoot Horses Don’t They, continually blowing into your trumpet (a la “Words”) looooong after the song has ended. While it amounts to escapism in today’s world, Boo Hoo Hoo Boo flaunts its gleeful, circus-tent abandon the way Chicago’s Head Of Femur do or Of Montreal did on Gay Parade, which is to say, not caring if anyone else is around. C’mon everybody! We’re goin’ streaking!
