Animal Liberation Orchestra (ALO) CD Review

Animal Liberation Orchestra (ALO)
Fly Between Falls
(Brushfire)

Jack Johnson’s buddies allow you to bring the frat party with you, wherever you go.

Every college town has an Animal Liberation Orchestra. Five or so goofy white guys come together over a love of Phish, Dave Matthews, Barenaked Ladies, and the BoDeans and like the idea of getting free beer and laid at parties. What makes life hard on snot-nosed critics, however, is when one of ’em — ALO in particular — has a sense of humor about itself and forces those snot-nosed critics to crack a smile. The smile, in this case, comes from “Girl, I Wanna Lay You Down,” as stupid a love song as you’ll ever hear, but cute enough not to be offensive, and unassumingly sexy. To iTunes with you!
