With the holiday season fast approaching it’s always a great idea to donate to a worthy cause. Besides that warm, cozy feeling you get inside, the Jammin’ With Jane charity event is providing attendees with music, drinks, food, and the chance to win prizes.

Two local music acts are slated to perform at the event. At one end of the spectrum will be rapper Big Wiz. His lyrics of inner-city street life and experience are blended into street flows and upbeat club tracks. And for an entirely different feel, Donovan’s Mom will be on hand for an eclectic rock/jazz set. The quartet released their eight-track debut album, Middle America, earlier this year.

In addition to the live entertainment, the event will hold a silent auction to bid on a number of donated items. The $20 cover includes free beer and well drinks from 7 to 9 p.m., as well as free appetizers and a raffle ticket.

Columbia College teacher Jane Canepa spearheads Jammin’ With Jane. Each semester the students of her Managing Promotions & Special Events class put together an event to raise money for a charity. This semester’s charity is the Kidney Cancer Association. Each year 36,000 people are diagnosed with kidney cancer. The association works to educate families and physicians, build awareness, and promote research for a cure.
