Floetry review
Floetry
Flo’Ology
(Geffen)
Returning as one of the worst-named groups in pop history, Marsha Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart kick anger to the curb and float into oblivion.
In Geffen’s words, Floetry combine “classic soul, funk, and a little bit of island spice!” At first, that sounds passively racist until Flo’Ology‘s bland sentiment bears it out. What has the potential to be one of the block rockinist duos today (British! Black! One sings, one raps!) is generic R&B that, despite its intentions, rarely delivers. Ambrosius tends more toward what she learned from “Soul Train” while Stewart hides her accent like a coke balloon. A lazy cameo by Common fades into “SupaStar” while stock themes (“Let Me In,” “Sometimes U Make Me Smile”) make you wonder what those six Grammy nods were about. The coolest thing is they look like Prince designed their costumes in 1984.
— Steve Forstneger
WHo the hell is Steve Forstneger and what makes him think he can comment on Floetry?? Maybe he should stick to Guns N Roses because Floetry is the HOTTEST group out. PERIOD!!!! 1 million plus album sales tell the truth of their musical genuis. Lets see – they are not only Grammy nominated, but Grammy award winners. And how many Grammys does Forstneger have??? CASE CLOSED!!!!!!!
