This was one of the most enjoyable nights I’ve had in a long time. I haven’t picked up an Illinois Entertainer in such a long time as it has become such an irrelevance in my life. ABBA in the same sentence as rock and roll? You got to to be kidding – who would need irony? Self explanatory. And 88 was great, problem a tad higher than your IQ ~ ambled indeed!!!

Sherwin Spector and Sparkle were the best band I have ever seen at the Whale, or any of the local bars for that matter. Great memories reading about the Whale, sure makes me miss the 70s, and even more so when i am sitting at Gene & Judes having a hotdog and seeing a McDonalds where the Whale used to be.

I find it ridiculous that internet broadcasters are hamstrung with a cumbersome royalty payment structure which is not imposed on any other broadcast medium. It is clear that this structure is designed to make it prohibitively expensive to launch an internet station that plays recorded music. This is contradictory to the democratic nature of the internet, and is yet another obvious result of a government that is a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporations. The found fathers must be spinning in their graves.

I’m not sure why, but it’s seems some on the around hear staff has black balled me. I have sent you many cds in the past year, and the review I receved was unfairly knocked my music. Now it seems you will not even write about “SilverBeat”. If you don’t like my music thats fine. just tell me so. I just hope that you are being real about what you do.

I saw Valencia perform in the Village about 5 years ago. She killed it! Everyone– including the dressed down celebs that were in the house that night–enjoyed the show. I found her extremely comfortable on stage, which is a good thing because new/indy artists seem a little green and that strains the connection with the audience. Not Valencia, she had them on the edge of their seats. Thanks for the info, I can’t wait for the show!!!

What you’re saying about Billy’s ego (which I would call “well-deserved pride”) may be true on one level, but, speaking as a music fan, don’t you WANT to hear music made by arrogant maniacs? I do. Why? Because it will be more interesting on the whole… more passionate, more imaginative, more ambitious. Who wants to listen to an album made by some humble fellow who pumps gas?
