Ed Spinelli joined the meticulous and mysterious Tool in the House That Jordan Built on Thursday. Held back by a two-year pandemic-induced sabbatical, the band is finally supporting 2019’s Fear Inoculum. 2022’s Tool is a slightly stripped down yet still pummeling version with an emphasis on this go around on their music with fewer bells, whistles, graphic videos, and naked contortionists. As always – Maynard James Keenan sang in the shadows, making it into the (stage) lights for fleeting moments from song to song. Audience smartphones were prohibited at the show until the final song “Invincible.”
