It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that John Lydon’s current band has lasted longer than his previous one did. Of course, he is the former Johnny Rotten, who once fronted legendary punk pioneers the Sex Pistols, who historically burned brightly in the late 1970’s, then flamed out in spectacular fashion.

But it’s also safe to assume that even Lydon would not have guessed that some four decades later, Public Image Limited would hit the road to celebrate such a historic anniversary. Their current tour brought them to the majestic Thalia Hall in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood as a celebration of, not only their groundbreaking, always forward-looking material, but to also help promote the 2017 documentary The Public Image Is Rotten. Who says punk is dead?!?
