Photo Gallery: Pitchfork Music Festival 2018 – Day One

| July 24, 2018

The Pitchfork Music Festival 2018 officially arrived this past weekend in Union Park on Chicago’s West Side to celebrate what is both new and old in music. Cultural and business participants included CHIRP’s massive record fair – as well as a bevy clothing, art and book booths. But the emphasis is always music at Pitchfork and, like years past, there was plenty in the offing.

Music acts on day one did a great job of representing it’s host city by inviting locals like The Curls and Melkbelly to kick off the day. West Side rapper Saba was a weekend high point. Hell, even Julie Byrne used to live here! The first day was rounded out by Lucy Dacus, Joshua Abrams & Natural Information Society, Tierra Whack, Open Mike Eagle, Julien Baker, Syd, Big Thief and the evening’s biggest draws Courtney Barnett and Tame Impala. Save for the occasional downpour, the rains were more an annoyance than the were a deterrent to those in attendance.
