AVM

West suburban based-symphonic rockers AVM are recording new tracks at SongWerks Recording in Addison with founder/producer Robert Mackey. Mackey also recorded tracks in Los Angeles with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Pensado (Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, Pink) and engineer/producer Herb Trawick. Working title of the new AVM album is I Want To Know, following up 2010’s A Matter Of Time and AVM’s YouTube hit remake of Deep Purple’s “Hush.” The band appears at Naperville Exchange Club’s Ribfest on July 6 and at the DuPage County Fair in Wheaton on July 27.

The tribute recordings continue at Eric Gosselin‘s Radiance Music Services in Homewood as Chicago prog-metal act Fierce Atmospheres recorded tracks for two tribute albums through Nashville’s Versailles Records. The band will be covering “Children Of The Sea” for a tribute to Dio and “Screaming For Vengeance” for a Judas Priest tribute. To hear other tributes the band has recorded (and a few original tunes), go to sonicbids.com/fierceatmospheres.

Uptown Recording in Chicago launched UTR Mobile, which the owners describe as “mobile recording at it’s finest, providing the highest quality mobile recording for a great price.” Filling a growing niche market, UTR Mobile provides on-site mobile recording that takes the studio to the band for a multitude of projects including live show recording, multitrack recording of bands on location, choir recording, and corporate event recording. Tracking on location allows customers to “remain budget focused while ensuring the highest quality capture of their event. We can mix this on the fly, or take the tracks back to our professional studios for mixing and mastering,” according to UTR Mobile owner Matt Denny. At Chicago Recording Company in Chicago, the month started with some serious girl power. Finishing sessions for new recordings were Jenna Timmerman and Leah Al-Uqdah. Redeye Rock ‘n’ Vote winner and singer-songwriter Michele McGuire and her band recorded a five-song EP in Studio 4 with Mat Lejeune and Jon Zacks. Also at CRC, Nagant, a chamber-folk ensemble featuring composers Noah Harris (piano and vocals) and Nathan Swanson (violins, viola, and cello), recorded their new album. The band says the music “draws from a broad base of classical, world, and western folk influences.” The Writer Sits was mixed in Studio 5 by engineer Zacks.
