Chicago’s Smith Westerns prepare for some summer lovin’ on the band’s third album, Soft Will – due for a June 11 release on Mom + Pop. The 10-track follow-up to 2011’s Dye It Blonde concludes with “Varsity.” Channeling the Mamas And The Papas’ unique ability to wrap incandescent melodies around messy matters of the heart, the song seems primed for late afternoon runs to the beach.
