Axl Rose sat down for his first televised interview in more years than we can count on our fingers and showed the world that while he is the eccentric rock star we’ve come to reluctantly embrace, he’s also an entertaining dinner guest. Of course, anyone extending an invitation to the Gunner should tell him to show up at noon, so he actually pulls up in the driveway around 5 p.m. in time for hors d’ouevres.

Hand it to host Jimmy Kimmel for squeezing a few laughs out of the unpredictable artist. Rose’s quirks were on full display, but he also showed a warm side that thrills at delighting the neighborhood kids on Halloween. He’s a real Jack Skellington.
