Sultry Fundraiser

| March 15, 2006

A scholarship fundraiser will be held on Sunday, March 19th, 2006 at the Oasis Edutainment Theatre, 12952 S. Western Ave. in Blue Island to benefit Chicagoland students attending one of the nation’s oldest and most successful Historically Black Universities: Morgan State University.

The Chicago Chapter of the University’s Alumni Association is offering a musically reenacted nostalgic walk down the historic road that is R&B and soul with the Sultry Singin’ Men Of Soul. In addition to a special tribute to the recently departed Lou Rawls, the group of male performers will be covering popular songs by Sam Cooke, Barry White, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, and Curtis Mayfield.

Tickets for both the concert and a champagne buffet are $60 but anyone solely interested in seeing Men Of Soul can get performance-only tickets for $40. For those participating in the buffet the evening begins at 4 p.m., but for the performance-only people the actual show begins at 5 p.m. Arlene Pierce, chairman of the fundraiser promises (via a press release) “an unforgettable evening of music and song.”

For ticket information, please call (773) 233-4962 or (773) 468-0771.
